We are actively hiring a Dari/Pashto Linguist to join our team working in Reston, VA. You will be responsible for supporting a government agency and your office with translation, transcription, and/or interpretation services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Linguists will primarily translate, transcribe, and interpret both English language into source language and source language text and audio into English
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree desired
- Preference given to higher clearances. However, all candidates with any level of clearance, including those with no clearance but who are deemed eligible, may be considered
- Interpretation between source and target language
- Translation into both English and target language
- Transcription into English and target language
- Microsoft Office Tools & Applications and PowerPoint
- All candidates must pass the English test with a score of 80% or above
- All candidates must be able to pass required language testing at the senior level or higher
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English is required
- Expirence with U.S. Immigration is highly desired
- Monitoring published, online and broadcast media while identifying relevant content
- Summarizing/Gisting while drawing upon linguistic or cultural expertise
- Translation Related Services (TRS)
- Blogging while drawing upon linguistic/cultural expertise
- Subject Matter Expertise in areas of Counterterrorism, Cyber and Sponsor Operations
- Each linguist is expected to have expertise in a variety of topics ranging from technical to political; an understanding of a variety of dialects/jargon is a plus
- Preference will be given to candidates who are able to type in one of the required languages, and in real-time, via social media, text message, email, and other fora, and therefore should be familiar with current web-based communication technologies
- Preference will also be given to candidates whose skills allow them to engage in casual, informal written or verbal conversation with native speakers
